Africa Progress Panel has released its Africa Progress Report 2015

The Africa Progress Panel (APP) has released in June its Africa Progress Report 2015, titled 'Power, People, Planet: Seizing Africa's Energy and Climate Opportunities,' which calls on Africa's leaders to start an energy revolution that delivers energy access for all.

At a time when renewable energy is registering some of the most remarkable advances in solar, geothermal and wind power, african countries have the chance to show the way to a low-carbon future and accepting a beneficial change for them.

The report calls for a ten-fold increase in power generation to provide all Africans with access to electricity by 2030. This would reduce poverty and inequality, boost growth, and provide the climate leadership that is sorely missing at the international level.

"The effects of climate change are being felt all over the planet, but not equally" - Kofi Annan
