According to the newspaper Expresso das Ilhas, the document was signed by the leaders of the two institutions on the sidelines of the 18th general assembly of the Association of Energy Regulators of Portuguese-speaking Countries (RELOP), which took place on the island of Sal, Cape Verde.

According to ARME's CEO, Leonilde dos Santos, this provides for, among other aspects, cooperation in the technical, normative and operational fields in the energy sector, which include the preparation of Quality of Services Regulations; Commercial Relations in the Electricity Sector; Procedure Manuals; National Electricity Grid Transmission Code; and other regulatory instruments, in the fields of electricity, natural gas and liquid fuels.

"This memorandum also includes the promotion and development of programs for the exchange of experiences and technical training, in the area of regulation of the energy sector, the organization of technical visits, sharing of knowledge and experiences, in the fields of renewable energy and energy efficiency, which includes the legal framework, tariffs and tenders, as well as joint actions,  in research and study days, through energy efficiency programs," the newspaper added.

According to the same source, this act symbolizes the corollary of a long journey of cooperation that has been developing for some time now, and which is now translated into the formal signing of this document.

The following day, on November 9th, the XIV Annual Conference of the RELOP Association took place, also on the island of Sal, Cape Verde.

The event brought together 12 Portuguese-speaking regulators, experts, academics, organizations and companies in the energy sector, promoting dialogue on the convergence and coordination of various energy sources towards the energy transition.
