Empowering Sustainable Energy in the ECOWAS Region: The ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Forum (ESEF) 2023 in Cabo Verde

The ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Forum (ESEF) has been at the forefront of discussions and initiatives to support investment and policy efforts of member states, aligning perfectly with the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) Strategic Plan 2023-2027. Established in 2016 by the ECREEE, ESEF has become one of the largest sustainable energy events in Africa, serving as a demand-driven and results-oriented platform to facilitate investments in the regional renewable energy sector.

The 8th ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Forum (ESEF 2023) is set to take place in Praia, Cabo Verde, on October 12th and 13th, under the theme "Empowering Sustainable Energy in the ECOWAS Region." This event, organized with the support of the Office of the Prime Minister, in collaboration with Cabo Verde's Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Energy (MICE), promises to be a significant step towards sustainable energy solutions.

ESEF 2023 is organized in parallel with the 4th edition of the International Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fair of Cabo Verde (FIEREE).

Over the past seven years, ESEF has established itself as the go-to meeting point for stakeholders in the West African energy sector, attracting over 300 participants annually, including esteemed ministers, representatives from renowned development organizations, financial institutions, and private sector actors in the energy and climate sector. The forum's success lies in its focus on promoting regional cooperation and partnerships to accelerate the adoption of a viable market for sustainable energy solutions in the ECOWAS region. For every edition, ESEF makes available to companies that want to have a prominent presence in the event, the opportunity to be a sponsor, guaranteeing a set of benefits – see our sponsorship pack.

Therefore, I invite all stakeholders, including government entities, financial institutions, professionals from the public and private sectors, and renewable energy enthusiasts, to join ESEF 2023 – an exceptional opportunity to get to know all the sector’s latest developments, stablish new partnerships, take part on the sector’s dialogue, and experience a week full of high-level initiatives.

I am pleased to announce that the organizing committee of ESEF 2023 has selected ALER as the event organizer. As an expert in Renewable Energy, ALER's involvement will focus on the event’s Agenda and thematic areas, engaging high level speakers, partners and sponsors, and also promoting the event to enhance its international outreach to attract a large number of participants.

Together, through events like ESEF 2023, we can work towards a greener, more sustainable future for the ECOWAS region. With the unwavering support and commitment of all participants, we can pave the way for renewable energy solutions and contribute to global efforts for and energy transition tackling climate change.
