Future CPLP Energy Network

In the First Meeting of Energy Ministers of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) held in Cascais, Portugal, on 23rdof June 2015, Energy Ministers of CPLP or their representatives of Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Principe and Timor-Leste, expressed their intention to set up an Energy Network for institutional cooperation between CPLP Member-States responsible for designing and implementig policies, programmes and measures in the sectors of energy efficiency, renewable energy and environment.


By signing the “Cascais Statement” the ministers emphasized “the need to strength the ties of friendship and cooperation between CPLP Member-States to jointly develop initiatives that promote capacity building, training, technical and scientific exchange and sharing of information.”

 

The "Energy Network" of CPLP aims to promote the dissemination of good practice, encourage the exchange of experiences, strengthen the skills of public actors and promote the involvement of the private and financial sector in that field.


ALER is closely monitoring the developments of this initiative with a view to be the focal point responsible for promoting the Energy Network regarding the renewable energy sector.
