Inotec opens pre-paid meter factory in Angola

On June 15th, Inotec, an ALER Member, inaugurated a factory to produce pre-paid smart meters for the electricity and water segments. The inauguration was presided over by the Angolan Minister of Energy and Water, Eng. João Baptista Borges.

 

The new factory is located in the municipality of Dande, in Bengo province, and will contribute to the development of the local economy by creating new job posts.

 

In the first phase it will produce 700 units per day of energy and water metering systems, with an estimated annual production of around 184,800 pre-paid meters per year. The factory will start the first phase of full operation in the second half of 2023, and will initially employ 28 people, registered at Mapess in Bengo Province.

 

During the inauguration of this first production unit, the Minister for Energy and Water place the first stone for the second production unit, which will have an area of 3,200m2 to boost production capacity to 2,000 meters /day, with a production capacity of 500,000 meters /year, and also to expand the segment of other products such as for solar home systems.

 

The construction of this factory was carried out with Inotec's own capital investment of around 3 million dollars.

 

From now on, Inotec SA., will have the capacity to produce, in Angola, C3801 single-phase meters, B280 three-phase meters and GMS-WRF smart water meters, all certified by STS. This new development contributes to Angola's future through economic growth via industrialisation.
