Renewables in the electrification of Mozambique

Objective

ALER, with the support from the Africa-EU Renewable Energy Cooperation Programme (RECP), will organise a high-level international conference in Mozambique on October 25 and 26.

The objective of the conference is to bring together European and African Renewable Energy businesses, developers and policy makers.

The conference will focus on the contribution of renewable energy technologies for the electrification of Mozambique, in line with its National Electrification Strategy under preparation to achieve universal access by 2030.

Programme

During the two-day conference in Maputo, participants will exchange information about the investment opportunities in the renewable energy sector, during the plenary session and parallel on- and off-grid sessions. Furthermore, the programme is aimed at shedding light on what will be role of the main institutions to support the development of renewable energy projects.

Audience

ALER is expecting up to 250 participants at the conference, from Mozambique institutions, private sector, financiers, multilaterals and bilaterals institutions engaging in renewable energy support programmes, NGOs and academic institutions. Therefore it will offer the chance to meet key stakeholders, have access to first-hand information and find business partners. Participation at the conference is free of charge and simultaneous Portuguese-English / English-Portuguese translation will be available, helping reaching high attendance.

An RECP trade mission “Unlocking Business Opportunities for Solar Energy in Mozambique” will be organized in the same week as the conference, bringing European project developers, manufacturers, service providers and consultants from the European solar industry to Mozambique.
