Investment/Financing: 60% bank loan / 30% grant (96,000 USD) / 10% Águas de Porto Novo own funds

The installed solar power plant generates a reduction in the operational costs of the Porto Novo Power Station, with a natural reflection on the cost of producing drinking water, which has been reduced by around 5%, thus promoting wider and equal access to drinking water for around 10,000 people. residents of the city of Porto Novo, with an impact on their health and well-being.

 

These case studies were presented in the webinar “Reference Case Studies in Renewable Energies - São Tomé and Príncipe, Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde”, organised by ALER in partnership with the Directorate General for Natural Resources and Energy (DGRNE) from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Natural Resources (MIRN),  and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), which took place on March 9th.
