The Angolan government has established through the National Strategy for New Renewable Energy an overall goal of 800 MW of installed capacity by 2025. By that date it is expected that at least 7.5% of electricity generated in the country will come from new renewable energy.

Clean Cooking Explorer – the new platform to help clean cooking transition

The Clean Cooking Alliance (CCA), in partnership with the World Resources Institute (WRI), is building an online, open-source, and interactive geospatial data platform, the first of its kind focused on clean cooking. Called the Clean Cooking Explorer (CCE), this integrated energy planning platform aims to provide stakeholders across public and private sectors with the data and tools needed to inform their strategies for a robust clean cooking transition, especially those related to electric cooking.

Despite Covid-19, 2020 marks the start of the decade of renewables

Global renewable energy capacity additions in 2020 beat earlier estimates and all previous records despite the economic slowdown that resulted from the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the new report by the IRENA the world added more than 260 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy capacity last year, exceeding expansion in 2019 by close to 50 per cent.

ALER signs new agreement with UNIDO

ALER is pleased to sign an agreement with UNIDO. The new contract, Strategic program to promote renewable energy and energy efficiency investments in the electricity sector of Sao Tome and Principe, has the main  objective to create a strategic partnership to promote renewable energies in Sao Tome and Principe and south-south cooperation with other lusophone countries.
