Applications for the Digital Energy Challenge are open until March 15

With the motto "the digital revolution is key for the energy transition in developing countries", the Digital Energy Challenge is a program funded by the European Union and implemented by the French Agency for Development (AFD) that, since 2021, seeks start-ups that want to develop projects for energy access and decarbonization of electrical systems through the implementation of innovative technologies and new business models.

 

What are the benefits?


Benefits for winning companies include grant-based funding up to 150,000 euros for start-ups and up to 500,000 euros for utilities, including technical support services, participation in a boot camp to develop new ideas, and increased visibility through social media campaigns.

 

Who can participate?


Start-ups in early-stage activities looking to scale up their digital innovations or digital transformation projects.

 

All projects must be:


  •  Digital: with technology as the basis of the project;
  •  Innovative: with respect to the local or national market;
  •  Local: with management activities in Africa.
