It is a special time to write about Mozambique, given the given the dire and dantean in which we find ourselves, however as in all difficult situations there is the opportunity to reflect, renew and rebuild.
It is with aim of renewing the energy in Mozambique, that we are proud to announce that the Associação Moçambicana de Energias Renováveis – a non-for-profit organization with the mission to promote renewable energy in Mozambique, officially created in 2017, is now fully registered and operational.
We have been cooperating with ALER since the begining, with the support of RECP - Africa-EU Renewable Energy Cooperation Program (now designated by GET.invest) project for our creation process. We look forward to continuing working together in the future.
AMER is the first business association dedicated to the promotion of renewable energy in Mozambique, and aims to represent all sectors in the renewable energy market space. More specifically AMER has the objectives to:
The renewable energy sector in Mozambique is currently a sea of opportunities where there is a constant and growing demand for (reliable) electricity and where there are also a number of available platforms (international and national) ready to support/finance new investment projects in the renewable sector.
It is also an exciting time for the energy sector as our legal framework is being reviewed, AMER has actively participated in several of these discussions, to allow Mozambique as country to cater and accompany the rapid evolution of energy technology and evolution whilst ensuring that the population of Mozambique can benefit and increase its energy access.
The energy market in Mozambique is at incipient stage and there is a dire need for energy solutions ranging from grid-tied large scale utility projects (hydro, solar, wind and bio-mass) to feed into the national grid as well as solutions of the off-grid market as solar home systems (PASYG) and other appropriate technologies – wind, biofuels, biomass, clean cooking stoves.
AMER’s value proposition is therefore to offer a unique platform in Mozambique whereby our members and partners will be able to collect and share information from the renewable energy sector, use AMER as bridge between private sector, government and donors and last but not least recourse to AMER as vehicle for capacity building of sector.
AMER has currently 280 pre-registered members and we aim to substantially grow our member base by end of 2019. Membership is now open for companies, associations and individuals. Joining AMER is easy. We invite you to fill out the online application form that you can find on our website www.amer.org.mz
We look forward to you joining us at AMER and becoming part of this organization, and together we can renew Mozambique.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at contact@amer.org.mz
Thank you very much. Yours faithfully,
Ricardo Pereira
President of AMER
