Case Studies

PV System of the General Directorate of Natural Resources and Energy in São Tomé

The General Directorate of Natural Resources and Energy of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Natural Resources installed a photovoltaic system in March 2021, funded by the United Nations Development Programme and by the Global Environment Facility.

PV System of the Messias Alves Beach Fishermen and Palaiês Association, São Tomé and Príncipe

The Fishermen and Palaiês Association of Messias Alves beach, in the district of Cantagalo, was implemented a Photovoltaic Solar System in July 2020, with the support of the Directorate General for Fisheries and financed by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency.

Renewable Energy in Porto Novo's Desalination Plant, Cape Verde

In Porto Novo, in the Santo Antão island, was implemented a desalination plant in 2021, with the support of Águas de Porto Novo, in a public-private partnership between the Government of Cape Verde, the Municipality of Porto Novo and Águas de Ponta Preta.

Planalto Norte Mini-grid, Cape Verde

In Planalto Norte, in the Santo Antão region, was implemented a Photovoltaic Solar System in January 2019, with the support of the Associação de Defesa de Mértola and co-financed by the Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, Camões – Institute for Cooperation and Language, amoung otheres.

Community Energy Service - a mini-grid in Bambadinca, Guinea-Bissau

In Bambadinca, in the Bafatá region, was implemented a mini-power grid in July 2015, with the support of TESE – Development Association, the Directorate General of Energy, the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, among others.

Solar Home Systems for rural development of Guinea-Bissau

In the regions of Bafatá, Gabú, Quinara and Tombali, were implemented homemade Solar Photovoltaic Systems in 2011, with the support of the Foundation Rural Energy Services and financed by subvention from the European Commission
