ALER organized a networking lunch and the first Advisory Board meeting

ALER organized a networking lunch and the first Advisory Board meeting after the closing ceremony of the “I Conference on Energy for the Development of the CPLP” at Estoril Congress Center.


Nearly 50 people attended the meeting, including relevant international representatives of governments and energy companies. This networking event allowed those attendees to exchange contacts and impressions.


ALER´s Advisory Board was recently created, and its members present at the meeting were: Ernesto Macías, President of the Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE); Hannah Murdock, Renewable Energy Analyst at the Renewable Energy Policy Network for the 21st Century (REN21); Wolfgang Moser, Technical Advisor to the SADC Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (SACREEE) and Richenda Van Leeuwen, Executive Director, Energy and Climate, Energy Access, at United Nations Foundation. Also attending the meeting as observers were Fernando Frutuoso de Melo, Director General for Development Cooperation at European Commission, and Epifânio Carvalho de Melo, Principal Infrastructure Specialist & PPP Expert in the Regional Integration and Trade Department of the African Development Bank.


The Advisory Board's objectives are discussing the state of the renewable energy sector in Portuguese-speaking countries and supporting the definition of the Association’s action lines. The functions of the Advisory Board are to act as an advisor to the Board, to give inputs about the strategy and action plan, to support the Association in pursuing its objectives and to promote new opportunities to support ALER'S development.
